Typology Project: Learning From A Rock
For this week we were introduced with making a "typology grid." For those who do not know what that is, it is a technique used to arrange "types" of things that carry similar themes. It can be bottle caps, dolls, or coins. I had to take 16 new pictures and place them on a 4000 X 4000 size canvas and place the images accordingly. For this assignment I chose the variety of rocks and gems. Despite all of the items beings rocks, they all appear different in shape, color, and texture. I chose this "type" because it carried uniqueness to it. It's not everyday you find a person having bunch of rocks and gems, so I thought why not give them a purpose and showcase them to the world. I used Pixlr Advanced Photo Editor to edit and create the grid. I just sharpened the pictures to enhance the colors of each rock. Each rock shown has the potential to be a beautiful gem. Despite it's brilliance being hidden can be uncovered with just a little effort. Shaping it, shining it and polishing it and before you know are holding a precious stone. This lesson can be taken in human perspective. In order to achieve what you want in life you must put in effort into getting it. Unfortunately, after a person has put in the effort and find the results are the same they feel hopeless. Never think because you put in the effort that it was all for nothing whether a person knows it or not you gained something out of it.
