Do People Really Understand Mental Health

Yes, the topic that will be discussed is about mental health. How informative are people when it comes to mental health? It is nothing new when we hear about a product, an app, a medicine or some meditation seminar that claim to bring benefits to those that suffer from mental health issues. I have noticed a sharp increase in seeing people  bring awareness to such topic through celebrities who endorse these things to combat depression and mental health. I think the main reason is that the online world  has brought together a new set of people who find themselves away from the turmoil of their real life and try to escape to find answers for the problems they face in their mind and it comes down to mental health. Depression and other disorders are complex subjects that needs to be distinguished between people who experience mood dips versus when they actually have an imbalance that disposes them to be depressed.

A few good example of the confusion of the two are when an influencer expresses on their platform that some are not depressed they are just going through emotional dips.Speaking about mental health is extremely sensitive. A person cannot be seen as taking advantage of the topic but equally we are in a culture where people aren't being encouraged to be open about their experiences with conditions and often being opened about these things can help others. We certainly shouldn't diminish such ones on the other hand we shouldn't be seen as taking advantage of the possible experiences of suffering to emotionally manipulate others.

So ironically it becomes a whole different balancing act on working out how to appear genuine when  discussing the topic of mental health.
