Should Respect Be Earned or Entitled to A Person?

Should we just give out respect to everyone even when they don’t respect us? I have to say no, absolutely not and here is my thoughts. There are a number of  toxic/manipulative people out there in the world that believe they are entitled to respect without any insight  on how well they respect others. Now if you are religiously conscious  you are taught to treat everyone with kindness. Bet your glad this isn't a religious blog then. If you are directly involved with someone who knows better, expects you to respect them but doesn’t show you respect and kindness it’s time to reconsider your relationship with that person. Now don't get confused with not being kind, you definitely wouldn't want to lower yourself to their level but respect doesn't have to be a factor in your dealing with them.

Respect should be felt by someone and what follows is kindness and appreciation. You can still be kind, polite and considerate  to someone that’s a complete moron but there needs to be boundaries so you wont be taken advantage of. Real repsect comes when we show to someone that we believe is an honest and decent human being.
