The Rise of Tik Tok

Let's talk about something that is fun, upbeat and that child friendly viewers of YouTube will endorse, Tik Tok. What can be wrong with such an app, right? Tik Tok is the peak of topics that seems to grab everyone's attention whether negative or positive. These apps are basically virtual mirrors for people to lip sync their favorite music or quote or whatever you want to do there are no restrictions of what you can't do on this app. Admittedly those who claim to dislike it , gradually become guilty of snapchatting themselves lip syncing and sending it to their friends.

That is the Tik Tok effect. The thing about Tik Tok is that its a platform that relies on public basis. Which in turn means everyone who has the app can share it to the world if they wanted. Tik Tok was founded in 2016 but it didn't start to pick up until a few months ago with the merger of its modern contemporaries, Musically. This is another platform with similar purpose to Tik Tok. However Tik Tok seems to be more prevalent  than musically in this current environment and there are many reasons for why that appears to be. A reason that sticks out more than a thorn is the absolute fact the gigantic Chinses market where it was originally launched gave it a lot of momentum. It also has additional features that definitely make it more extensive than any previous applications.

With the internet being available to almost everyone, it has started a movement like no other. Now with this access we are interconnected as ever before. The age of the internet is truly an exciting feat that people are able to connect in other ways and not just face-to-face. It has gotten to the extreme that the internet has created its own culture in a way. I myself benefit from such way of connecting with others. However online world has brought many threats. That being data predators.

Predators have always existed they are nothing new. It's just the internet gives them a new dynamic to play with and that means we have to be more aware. Actually the UK education system has been very proactive in making sure that children are not roped in such things. Though its very easy to assume you won't be caught up in a situation like that. However there are many people in different envionments who are susceptible to that particularely those who have a rockyreal-life relationship with those around you and some stranger offers you a better alternative. This situation might seem absoulutely insane to us, it sounds like a possible escape to another. This is the issue that faces Tik Tok. Like many online platforms that attracts large amounts of young people , they face the critism that they promote an environment where child predators can thrive.

So is Tik Tok safe for children? Not entirely however the first step is to acknowledge these issues and prepare oneself or unsafe environments since it's envitable at this point.
